In the state of Florida, Lady Bird deeds are allowed and are legally called an enhanced life estate deed. They’re named after Lady Bird Johnson, who put homes and put real estate in such an instrument. The purpose of this is, again, to avoid probate, but not add your children or add your grandchildren as owners of the property until you pass away. By putting your name and the child or grandchild’s name on the deed, you can own the property completely until your passing and title does not pass until you, as the owner, pass away and that child or grandchild then obtains ownership without the probate process.
