A health directive is a very important document, whereby you can tell your doctors and the nursing home what your life ending determination should be, including resuscitation, any type of final medications, pain management, or any other type of medical treatment you wish, or more importantly wish not to have. Those medical directives should be in writing, and should be in conjunction with the durable power of attorney, so your agent can tell the doctor, “This is what my parent or grandparent wanted, and you must abide by those directives.”
